DIY Rotary Weld Positioner – Built from the Ground Up

While working on my latest project, I found myself needing a reliable way to weld round components with consistent results. With commercial rotary weld positioners typically priced between R10,000 and R20,000, I set out to design and build my own solution.

This project includes complete frame drawings and a functional control schematic. However, constructing the rotary weld positioner requires solid fabrication skills, a good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, and a dose of creativity. Basic computer literacy is also necessary, as the system is powered by an Arduino® microcontroller.

Full detailed plans on making your own Rotary Welding Positioner, as shown in the video.

With these plans anyone can build their very own Rotary welding Positioner, perfect for welding exhaust systems.

When purchasing the plans, they consists of:

  • PDF file plans, showing how to build the mechanical part of the machine.
  • DXF files, to send to a laser cutting CNC machine to cut the sheet metal parts you need, including a Bill of Materials with part dimensions and quantities.
  • instruction video, showing how to do the wiring, software, setup, and get your machine running (easy to follow).
  • links to software & downloads
  • Full Material and component costing.
